DJ Grace Sands

Celebrating 30 years of DiY

DJ Grace Sands, for many years part of Digs & Woosh, founder members of the DiY Soundsystem came out onto the scene at Glastonbury’s fêted corner of queerness and quality house Block9/The NYC Downlow in June ’16. As a veteran of the festival since ’86, including sneaking DiY’s Black Box soundsystem onsite well after the designated ‘free' fields had gone, appearing and disappearing all weekend in a game of cat and mouse with security, she brought the Pilton partying experience to share with her new found tran sisters. Mixing up the legendary deep, house and garage vibes of her partnership with Woosh, she threw acid into the mix, got fresh with Mel & Kim, dropped Ron Hardy cuts and classic disco to tear up the Go-Go’s, Drag Queens, T-Girls and Block9 party crew. Playing everywhere from Brighton Pride, Dalston Superstore, Bender at the Eagle, Grace is also resident at London’s Adonis parties, regularly playing alongside Hannah Holland. Listen out for appearances on Soho Radio & RinseFM.
