1. We're going BIG on ideas

ALSO21 is packed with new ideas to inspire you and change your thinking. Our biggest, boldest and most visual ideas will be on the main stage while our more conversational talks are hosted on our beautiful lake stage. Smaller and intimate conversations can be found on the woods stage. See which stage you love the most. Wander around, let the ideas soak in, engage with the speakers and maybe buy a book to explore your favourite idea further (we'll even wrap it for free if you want to give the gift of an idea to a friend).

2. Be an animal!

This year ALSO will bring out the animal in YOU. So reset yourself: forget being a creature of habit and spend the weekend as a social animal. Join environmental philosopher and history of humanity researcher Melanie Challenger to explore the animal in us all. Create your own animal scent in our perfume workshop. Book on a lantern workshop and then join our Saturday Night procession with its You Animal theme. Dress up and follow the animal head lanterns and live Klezmer band as they parade through the site. Miaow! Grrr!

3. Get ready to experience something new

After a year of lockdown, our brains and bodies are craving new experiences. So try something you wouldn't normally do: jump in our lake, experience a unique session of Yoga Nidralearn a dance or join a morning movement meditation. Sandy Di Yu is hosting Painting Beyond the Canvas to teach us about adding colour and character to any surface or try wild sketching with Isabella Mitchell – both are part of Yodomo's Renew, Restore and Recycle series.

Spaces are limited but we’ll be adding more and keeping some spots open for booking on the day too.

4.  How to plan your weekend

Remember you can’t do everything so stay flexible. Book up a few experiences you fancy – our schedule is now LIVE - check it out here. But leave some things open to chance; you're bound to stumble upon something unexpected that you want to dive into… whether it's an energetic workout or just sitting in the sunshine with new friends. This is ALSO so there will always be a magical surprise just around the corner.

We've got a great team of helpers this year who love to help – we always appreciate you treating them with patience and kindness as they're volunteering their own time.

5. A word about food

We're a small festival that packs a big punch and we love it that way! But this means we can only host a handful of food trucks. Each one is hand-picked and serves only the best food: choose from sausages, burgers, pizza, raclette, curry, the ALSO deli, baked spuds plus plenty of coffee, smoothies and cake. There's also a main bar, cocktail and gin bar and our Rum Shack cocktail venue.

Or book one of our fabulous food events here – from picnic hampers, foodie workshops. to our always-popular Balearic Brunch paella.

If you want to cook your own meals by your tent, feel free but please - no fires.

6. Your favourites are BACK this year

Every year ALSO invites its big hitters to the stage – renowned experts bringing us a big new idea or talk. At ALSO21 we're set to enjoy:

- Professor David Tong telling us all we need to know about particle physics - in 45 minutes!

- Rock star classicist Natalie Haynes on her favourite gods and monsters.

- Leading public philosopher Roman Krznaric on how to be a good ancestor.

- Salena Godden, one of Britain's best-loved poets and performers, discussing her new novel.

- Our Sunday morning newspaper review: bring your breakfast and get involved.

And these much-loved highlights are back too: our guided tree walkBalearic Brunch and the ALSO Running Club.

Don't have a car? Our Hippy Heights Hotel glamping has all you need for a stay in a gorgeous bell tent which sleeps up to four (the more of you there are, the cheaper it is) – bring extra blankets too if you want to get really snug. There are also hotels nearby. Try Walton Hall Hotel & Spa or The Charlecote Pheasant Hotel in Warwick. If you want to hire a camper van, Camper King will have the perfect one for you.

Please don't bring booze, glass or single-use plastic but do pack your fancy dress!

8. A word about Covid safety

ALSO know how to host a Covid-secure festival. In 2020, we were one of only five festivals that were given the go-ahead in the UK. Our ticket holders' safety and health is of primary importance to us and we're working closely with the local authorities to ensure ALSO21 is Covid-secure. We are constantly monitoring the situation and will work with festival-goers to ensure everyone at ALSO21 stays safe.

9. Get ready to MOVE

That's enough of sitting around for one year! It's time to get moving that body and start feeling good. Movement is a huge theme for ALSO21 as we animals are built to move and regular movement makes us happy and healthy. Movement coach Ben Medder shows us how to move with the seasons, Fiona Rigg teaches us the joys of the Charleston and there's our ever-popular lake swimming and forest runs too.

10. Want to carbon offset your weekend? Now you can!

ALSO are aiming to be a carbon-neutral and 100% sustainable festival and you can help! Learn to love trees even more with our brilliant new tree scheme. We'll plant an air-improving, carbon dioxide-producing, wildlife-loving and eco-system supporting tree in your name on the ALSO site. Then you can come back and hug it every year.
