Comedy is one of our favourite part of ALSO, and with a woodland stage this year (tee-hee-hees in the tree-ee-ees, anyone?) there are lots of LOLs on offer.
We think of ourselves as the home of smart comedy and offer many chances to learn some comedic skills yourself, to get involved or just sit back and engage your laughter muscles as our smart, witty acts do their thing as we present cabaret, standup, music and improv and even comedy horror.
Elf Lyons, comedian, clown and horror fanatic brings her boundless energy and nonsense to the festival. She’ll be blending all these as she presents her Haunted Forest Of Horrors deep in ALSOs woodlands, so be sure to catch one of the UK’s most innovative comics.
The brilliant British-Iranian comic is at ALSO to deliver brand new material as she presents for us her work-in-progress show. You may have seen her on QI or Live At The Apollo among others and now we are so pleased we get to see her at ALSO21.
Talking of clever comedy, all hail our hero of the UK comedy scene, the polymath that is Robin Ince. He is bringing his renowned Book Club to ALSO21 for a very special edition in which he will share with you the weird and the wonderful.
Come and loosen your brains after a year of lockdown with a guru of the improv scene. You can learn some foolproof improv techniques from the star of Whose Line Is It Anyway?, The Comedy Store Players and Paul Merton’s Impro Chums. Don't miss it!
ALEXIS DUBUS - "Animal Clowning" kids workshop
We are proud to present a serious clowning session for children. This year we are going deeper with a themed workshop. Our comedy programmer, Alexis guarantees your children will return twice as beastly as before
The incredible show from London is LIVE on our stage on Friday night. Yes, the French showman and raconteur, Marcel Lucont returns for another late-night serving of Cabaret Fantastique with new poems, chansons and some magnificent guests.
PS. Take a look at our ALSO21 experiences - many are now OPEN for booking. Why not go on an intro to outdoor swimming with GB Ice Swimmer Caroline Saxon, paint beyond the canvas with Sandy Di Yu or learn to make your own Chinese Dumplings with Sam Sin from Koi Kitchen...
