The inspiring singer and vocal coach, Barbara Amoakohene, leads this inclusive singing workshop with a dynamic, joyful reworking of the Sia classic, inspired by Kanye's Sunday service. Whether new to Gospel or a lifetime fan, this workshop will teach you uplifting harmonies and stylsitic tricks to make the most of the voice you have.
This highly interactive, ultra-fun workshop combines yoga and yes, you've guessed it, acrobatics. Qualified yoga teacher, Francesca will lead us through a solid foundation of basic movements, as partners and groups work together to create postures in which someone (usually a smaller member of the family) is lifted. Great for building balance, communication and team work.
This dynamic family singing workshop will give you insider vocal tips and tricks used by west end performers. Our wonderful MT vocal coach Amelia Carr leads this energetic, contemporary and uptempo session. Amelia specialises in working with young voices, including preparing them for roles in the West End, TV and film, so you'll be in the best possible (jazz) hands.

The award-winning animation director and illustrator, Evgenia Golubeva will be leading a creative walk around the festival's grounds with plenty of guidance on what to sketch and how. This popular walking workshop is suitable for all ages. All you have to do is bring your creativity - we'll provide the stunning backdrop, sketchbooks, and art materials.
Artist/Designer Sophie Clausen trained with the celebrated assemblage artist Bruce Dorfman and she has created an assemblage art experience especially for ALSO. This workshop offers a gorgeous in-festival chance to explore the use of discarded or found materials and to create 3D artwork. Our surrounding forest and extensive grounds offer many sources of found materials which can be incorporated into this highly creative session.
Ooh ALSO just loves to dance! Our Dance Programming runs through ALSO like letters in a stick of rock. So why not try Bounce Bhangra? It’s a great opportunity to learn some high-energy Bhangra and Hip Hop moves and to learn a complete dance routine from start to finish.
Hebden Bridge strollers Kath & Pete are at ALSO this year for a stroll up session to introduce you to vintage stroll dances. Accessible for all – you don’t need a partner - just grab a cocktail at the bar then join them as they teach the Charleston, Haworth, 1940s and Peaky Blinders strolls. It’s easy to learn, even for those with two left feet. Promise!

Compose beautiful (and instagrammable) leaf sculptures. Source all of your materials from Capability Brown’s landscape and start your weekend by immersing yourself in a mindful playtime. By returning the creation back into nature, the elements’ reaction to it completes your piece. Wind, water and placement within the earth provide the stage for a kinetic installation.
ALSO is a place to go a bit deeper into the process of creating comedy and for ALSO20 we are offering the chance to grapple with improv, and we couldn’t be in better hands that those of the internationally acclaimed improv expert Richard Vranch (BBC R4’s Just a Minute, Whose Line Is It Anyway? Comedy Store Players in London’s West End and Paul Merton’s Impro Chums). He’ll be at ALSO20 to show you how to play the moment and conjure up laughter from thin air in this accessible workshop.
As part of our Clever Comedy strand we will be building on our incredible introduction to clowning at ALSO19. For ALSO20 we are moving the clowning up a notch for anyone who wants to go a bit deeper in to their inner clown. We will be inviting festival-goers to an intermediate clowning workshop one that allows them to prepare a piece of idiocy, which will be honed and then performed. No idea is too stupid, no concept too wild. Workshop will be run by Gaulier Trained Clowns!

ALSO is a place to get new skills. What will you do this year? Why not have a go at aerial with Lucy Webster’s Lollipop Lyra workshop? This exciting aerial discipline is part aerial hoops (Lyra) part freestanding stage pole. In this introductory session you will get to grips with your equipment and perform various poses, doubles tricks and spins with the correct technique and form to execute them safely. Also it’s a full body workout particularly targeting the upper body and core and a real LOL. The session welcomes all abilities!!
For those who want to take their Floating Gong Bath to the next level an incredible ALSO20 experience awaits. As part of our commitment to unusual audio adventures across our unique festival site we have timed one of our Wild Swimming sessions to take place at the same time as our Floating Gong Bath which is taking place on our absolutely beautiful Lake Stage. Be guided by one of the leading wild swimmers in the country, Suzanna Cruickshank, this promises to be unforgettable.

ALSO’s in festival wild swimming expert, Suzanna will guide you through the mindful wonders of appreciating your surroundings, teach useful breathing exercises meaning you can fully immerse yourself in this unique experience.
Back, bigger, with harder knots, this fun, family and team activity will ask you to put Archimedes' Displacement Theory to the test whilst learning how to escape being shipwrecked! Our instructors will give you some tips but it will be up to you to turn a pile of poles, rope and barrels into a raft - to keep you and your crew afloat. Minimum age 8.
Be procession-ready by booking on our lantern making session. You'll create your very own willow lantern, ready to join and illuminate Saturday’s twilight procession. All materials provided. No age limit, but young children may need support from a grown-up.

London based Forró aficionados, Andy and Julia will be on hand to help us experience this Brazilian dance that is taking over the dance floors of Europe. During the workshop experience, you will learn the close embrace and some simple steps to the forró rhythm, which you will then practice with your new forró friends!
