On this 75 minute exploration of the ALSO countryside, Simon will weave in his knowledge of how our ancestors survived off the land, find out they foraged for medicines and food and understand how to find alternative food sources to find food yourself. Explore our theme A Place in the Country by capturing the essence of ALSO Social on your phone camera with guidance from Warwickshire based The Tall Photographer. He will help you to create images that convey feelings and tell stories. Wandering through beautiful ALSO together we will look for ways and ideas to make our pictures more engaging whether they are abstract or naturalistic and whatever your previous photographic experience. Ever wondered how our ancestors managed without string, and rope and twine? Did you know nettles could be used, yes - with nettle cordage they could make bows, clothes, traps, fishing line and bind shelters. Even now when on your outdoor adventures in the wild cordage can be helpful to tie things together: boots, clothes and even rucksacks. In our session, you'll get to equip yourself with an essential survival skill by learning how to make cordage out of nettles - whilst making a bracelet for your wrist.

Be part of our Saturday night art happening and installation as part of our theme A Place in the Country with ALSO Social and Citrus Arts. Citrus Arts are a wonderful performing arts company from South Wales who create shows that combine circus, dance and drama with their love for the great outdoors. They will be creating with us an upside down town made from lanterns suspended from the trees fringing the ALSO lake and we want you to take part. Book your place on the lantern workshops through the Saturday and see your lantern be part of the upside town at dusk as you walk through the art installation. Lanterns will be yours to take home.
