Being boutique and beautiful, your ALSO weekend enmeshes you in nature in a way no other festival can do and with all your creature comforts covered. So we are inviting you to an expansive wellness weekend in our ultra-natural site where no matter how wild you run – just being in this place will work its transcendent magic on you.

With a Capability Brown-designed lake that can only be swam in for this one weekend of the year, camping or glamping enmeshed in nature actually in the site, and the 17th Century landscape gently being reclaimed by the wild, it all works together to recharge you, even if you don’t do any of our many wellness activities programmed throughout the weekend.

Comedy

Comedy is right at the heart of your ALSO experience, highly curated, often clever, always entertaining, we also curate our comedy programming to be a proper celebration of it as an art. We curate excellent artists and talents in the field, and love the way it communicates ideas so well, showcases the cleverness of those at the top of their game, with off the record comic moments not seen anywhere else. We deeply encourage our performers to see ALSO as a stage where they don't have to 'play it safe', because our audience embraces the talent on stage and want to have the best time at their shows. It's a powerful combination, and one we have developed through our editions. In short - it's a right laugh.

ALSO25’s offering features performances from peering into the ever-active mind of Robin Ince, to History's Most Epic Fibs with Athena Kugblenu (BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz, The Museum Of Comedy & Loose Ends), a panel exploring Horror & Comedy, Rob Deering puts some of our comedians on the spot in his live music-based comedy pop quiz - Beat This!, and however you decide to ALSO we kinda have to recommend making Marcel Lucont’s presents his cult hit Cabaret Fantastique with fabulous guests as part of your wild Friday night soirée at ALSO, with the Dining Tent transformed this year into your own bistro de Paris. And travel writer, journalist and creator of the cult show Trigger Happy TV, Dom Joly, leads us into the woods and down a metaphorical rabbit hole, showing the world through some alternative lenses in The Conspiracy Tour.

Plus if you want to go deeper or start on your own comedic path we’ll have workshops, masterclasses and debates to extend your knowledge, experience and engage with this most entertaining and fascinating of arts that we love so much.

Music

When twilight falls on the ALSO site, the unexpected begins to happen - the woods twinkle, light sculptures glow, the lake sparkles and the main stage comes to life as our musical stars light up the night.

ALSO25 features genre-busting live performances from the world-renowned party purveyors of contemporary world music Molotov Jukebox are a bi-lingual six-piece like no other - fronted by internationally acclaimed actress Natalia Tena to Bristol-based band Miya The Sun known for their crowd-pleasing musical creations that splice together psychedelic soul, jazzy hip-hop and solar funk. To The Copenhagen-based trio Smag På Dig Selv (SPDS) one of the wildest live bands in the Nordics the epitome of instrumental euphoria – get the place bouncing. And, back by popular demand, 2025 sees the return of . . . Bunker 54. The greatest dance venue in summer festival land. From the outside, it looks like a stack of straw bales inside it is pure disco baby.

Music is an essential part of ALSO. We've always packed an eclectic mix and 2025 will be no different. We'll have choirs illuminating the beauty of the human voice and DJs rocking the Rum Bar day and night. We’ll have late-night karaoke and whisper it, but there will be ROCK, as well as explorations into the weird and wonderful.

It also means we have over two decades’ experience of taking ideas and letting them run wild so in 2014, having programmed extensively for all the most creative festivals in the UK (putting the clever content in to Latitude, Wilderness, Standon Calling, Soho House, Festival No 6, Blue Dot and Lost Village) we knew exactly how to curate the UK’s first music and ideas festival.

Yes, for ALSO25, we’ll get to the gory heart of our deepest selves by taking a tour into our own bodies. And who is taking us on this tour only one of the UK’s most distinguished cardiologists, Dr Robin Choudhury, who will ensure we all in love with a new organ this ALSO.

This is your clear your diary for Margaret Heffernan alert. Let’s hear it for the creatives: the book we have been waiting for has DROPPED. Margaret is one of the boldest thinkers to walk this Sceptred Isle and she knows the solution of how to live well in these unpredictable times of love and horror is to look to the artists. Award-winning author and scientist Dr Camilla Pang who found the stability of science originally as a safety blanket for her survival with Autism and wrote the extraordinary Understanding Humans now gives us the gift of Breakthrough how thinking like a scientist can help us to step confidently through the minefield of misinformation and the unknown.

We have had quite enough from big tech thank you and we all would love to know how we can make it all stop. Luckily we have LSE's Professor Nick Couldry on hand this ALSO on Data Grab: The new Colonialism of Big Tech and how to fight back. Arm yourself with the opposite of misinformation by listening to Nick.

Another story we have been waiting to hear for a long time is by the extraordinary neuro imager and neuroscientist, Gina Rippon. She’ll be explaining who delves into the emerging science of female autism, asking why it has been systematically ignored for so long and what we can learn about our own minds and the way society treats them.

Clinical experience, consultant neuropsychiatrist Dr Alastair Santhouse is LIVE at ALSO to explore his new research into this climate of diagnosis, helping us understand the role diagnosis plays in being well.

What happens when the artist you love is cancelled, what happens to all that love? What does a super fan do when the object of your love becomes a horror show. We’ll hear from the award-winning poet and artist Vanessa Kisuule on the pleasures and perils of fandom, the story of her and Michael Jackson..

Let’s do it. Our ethos is to have plenty of things to do, leaving you to curate your weekend as you see fit. Wildly experiential, we believe your best ideas happen when you allow a little time for chaos into your life, and we curate many, many workshops, experiences, and masterclasses for you to up-skill, go deeper into things you like or just to try something new and wild.

This ALSO25 you could take a wild adventure on land or in the water. You could treat yourself to one of our early morning, sundown, or even moonlit guided swims with our resident wild swimming expert. Or book a 15 minute session in our sauna nestled under the ancient oaks by the side of the lake before taking to the lake for a plunge or for a wild swim in the silky lake water. You could make a gorgeous sunglasses case decorated with simple sashiko-style stitches with Yodomo. You could take a cheese tasting tour of dreams with Emma Young. You could try the all-new for 25 ALSO Runswim with Stornoway’s Old Steadman. Perhaps a guided SUP session is for you or maybe you want to step into our brand new Flower Haus and craft a summer wreath, flower crown or floral buttonhole.

We are totally the place to immerse yourself in new experiences and our wild setting enhances this to the max.

We all come together at the most magical part of the site for Saturday night, and it's a great excuse to dress up and get down with an all singing all dancing spectacular.

Answers to the questions we get asked the most at ALSO HQ….

FESTIVAL INFO

ALSO is the festival where ideas run wild and it returns for its twelfth edition over the 11th - 13th July 2025 weekend. The festival is set in the heart of Warwickshire (CV35 9HJ) and the site is completely wild and untamed — this is incredible for lots of reasons including being close to such a range of wildlife, for being able to spend a weekend in nature, the relaxing effects of our awe-inspiring view of the lake... All of this is so great for health and mental health, for feelings of well-being and a fix of being in nature in the UK summer. It’s not great for heels or sending PowerPoint presentations.

How should I plan my weekend?

There is plenty to do, see, hear and take part in at ALSO and most events are run on a turn-up basis leaving you free to enjoy your time with us to suit your mood at the weekend.

Some workshops, masterclasses, or experiences, as we call them, give our guests the opportunity to dive deeper into any aspect of ALSO they enjoy. They range in level and technique and materials needed to get them to work in the field and are priced accordingly, our ambition is to always have something for everyone.

The first wave line up is released in January 2025 and the full line up, including experience bookings open Spring 2025.

Do you have an overview of the schedule?

To help you plan your weekend with us, we get the schedule published two months in advance of the festival so you can plan some of your time with us. This does mean sometimes venues and events have to change — this is always because of events beyond our control — but we do our best to keep this to a minimum.

What extra costs are there?

We have a number of paid, bookable workshops, designed to go deeper into the subject or to have a go at trying the subject out. These are marked with a ‘£’ and ‘Details & booking’ option can be seen when you click through. We aim to make the workshops a real chance to have a go at something unusual, and the chance to explore the pleasures of food and drink a little bit more. ALSO is the festival where ideas run wild and part of the idea of ALSO is that we try to connect you with many many ideas in the hope that one might be the one you’re looking for or that can help you with what you’re focusing on in your life right now. The more open you are to the experience the more likely this is to occur.

But it doesn’t matter if you’re not going to book on everything or if you’re on a tight budget, ALSO25 is designed to be bursting with ideas and experiences for all.

What facilities are there?

ALSO is a very small but upmarket festival and has toilets and showers to match. We also offer private toilets for those who would prefer their own.

We have plenty of toilets around the site including accessible toilets available for wheelchair users.

This year for those with live-in vehicles, we’ll also be supplying a waste container to allow for waste receptacles to be emptied by hand on-site

There are three water points on site and we encourage people to bring refillable bottles.

We do not have an ATM on-site, but cards are accepted across the site.

We do not have WiFi on-site, but 4G reception is good, depending on your provider.

We recommend bringing power packs but do have phone charging points free of share for a quick charge on The Tor.

Accessibility

ALSO is an outdoor event on a wild site and has some sloping grass areas that are steep in sections, and most main walkways are on flattened out grass.

The entrance, campsite and the main site are accessible in all weathers but parts of the site may become inaccessible if there is heavy rain.

We have accessible toilets on site.

Medication can be stored on-site if requested in advance.

Camping

We have 50 acres of beautiful parkland to camp in so plenty of options where to set up for the weekend. It is a rare site because underneath the wildness is Capability Brown’s landscaping who designed our site when it was part of the Compton Verney estate. This mixture of sculpted landscape covered over with two centuries of nature gradually reclaiming it gives the site both feelings of natural beauty and designed beauty and because like so few festivals you are able to camp in the actual site that the festival takes place we suggest you enjoy this — oh — and we also ask that you please do not pitch your tent under trees.

Glamping Options

If you're coming in a big group, don’t have a tent or a car, want to reduce the amount of stuff you carry or want the experience of camping at a festival without all the walking around, or you've done it before and you don't want to go back, ALSO's High Glamp Camp is the perfect way to ALSO.

We have carefully designed three options and prices to suit as many festival-goers as we can - we want to save you and the planet from buying camping equipment you won’t use - and we are unique in our festival experience under canvas as you can stay within the beautiful Capability Brown parkland.

Parking

There is free parking up at the main entrance and it’s a short walk into the site. Access is via Gate/entrance A.

Car passes

There are no unregistered cars allowed on-site at ALSO. The main car park is at the top of the site and the walk down to the main site is a few minutes.

We offer a limited number of car pass tickets which allow you to park next to where you camp — car passes can be purchased here. Access to this area is via Gate/entrance B.

Campervans

We love Campervans (including caravans and motorhomes) and there is a place for them which is on the main site. You will need a Campervan Pass to park there, this can be purchased here. You will need to access ALSO via Gate/entrance B.

I don’t want to camp, is there a hotel?

Mercure Warwickshire Walton Hall, a 4 Star Hotel and Spa, is next door to the site, however, we are in 50 acres and they are in 70 so it is a 10-minute drive away (or half an hour over wild ground for any hikers).

There is also The Charlecote Pheasant a car journey away.

How do I get to ALSO?

We are in a wild site which is great but it does mean there is very little signage on the roads surrounding ALSO and there is a limit to how much signage we can put in place, so we recommend having those directions downloaded, and to hand. Also Festival can be put into a Sat Nav.

Are there any shuttles or buses? How much are taxis? Where is the nearest station?

The nearest station is Leamington Spa, there are great advance tickets on the train if anyone’s based in London. There are no shuttle buses available but taxis to and from the station are approx £20. We will have taxi numbers at information but we really recommend pre-booking if you intend to leave from the festival on the Sunday because this is a remote site and we don’t want you to have to wait around.

How do I volunteer?

Each year we grow ALSO’s ambition a little, taking what is possible to do in a field and we can do this because of the volunteers who work with us both on build and delivery. Please consider volunteering or suggesting friends who might get something out of it. We often develop close and mutually beneficial relationships with our volunteers and many of both our talent and our delivery team have started out as volunteers that we got to know. It’s a lovely way of being both part of the ALSO team and learning how to create and deliver a show. Essential life skills — we believe! The ALSO25 volunteer programme launches Autumn 2024.

What food do you have at ALSO?

We really love to eat and we are really proud of what we are able to create in a totally wild site for ALSO. We support diverse founders and choose a number of concessions that are excellent in terms of animal welfare and sustainability. The concessions are designed to make the widest variety of food available so there are options for whoever you’re coming with and their food choices, including vegan and vegetarian, and we have our Deli of Dreams where food produced by those with great ethics, diverse founders or locally made can be bought to enhance your lakeside or tent side eating. We’re really trying to reduce our plastic right down so the less you bring in (looking at you supermarkets) the happier we’ll all be.

To provide much more variety, we supplement our concessions with our dining and tasting experiences marquee and host a number of dining events over the weekend and they are open for booking in Spring 2025. We recommend doing these — they are an absolute highlight of the festival, they also mean we can offer so much more variety in terms of food by having workshops that also include a breakfast or a lunch. Win, win we say….

Can we bring alcohol?

We do our best to cater to every need of all our visitors.

Only alcohol bought from festival bars can be drunk in the festival arenas and, because the site is on farmland, we cannot have any glass brought on site by order of the swans, sheep and wild birds who live here year-round.

In the campsite and campervan areas, we ask that you support our independent festival and bring a maximum of one bottle of wine and 8 cans per adult over the festival weekend.

Fires

We don’t allow open fires on-site including BBQs. Gas grill combos and camping stoves are allowed but you must be used responsibly and safely.

Do you have day tickets?

Yes! Our ALSO2025 day tickets open for booking in Spring 2025.

Do you know what the start and finish time of the acts is likely to be?

We open the site from 12pm on Friday 11th July to give weekend ticket holders more time to set up camp with programming starting from around 5pm on the Friday evening and beginning around 8am on Saturday and Sunday. Programming wraps up Sunday 13th July around 7pm but the festival stays open later and we’ll be celebrating our 12th year so do join us.

Can we stay over on Sunday night?

You are welcome to stay over on Sunday night we just just ask that you are off site by 10am on the Monday as we need to get the field ready for the sheep. Please note facilities will be limited and food concessions may not be serving late.

Hay fever and hot weather.

If you suffer from hay fever or allergies, we highly recommend you bring antihistamines for those high pollen count days.

SUP at ALSO

We love stand-up paddle boarding at ALSO. Bring your own and use them during the daytime during one of our lifeguarded swim sessions.

You can also book on one of our SUP experiences opening Spring 2025.

Is drinking water available on site?

As we are on our way to being plastic-free, we will have limited plastic bottles of water for sale on-site, but we do have two water points on site.

Can we bring dogs to the festival?

As much as we love our furry friends, the land really belongs to the sheep so the farmer says no dogs on site. Exceptions are made for guide and service dogs.

Waste at ALSO

The field belongs to the sheep for the rest of the year so everything we bring into the field we take away at the end. We ask that you’re mindful of what you bring on site and ensure you take everything you bring home with you. All waste on site is collected and taken offsite by a professional waste management company and processed to stop as much as possible from going to landfill.

Where do I find my tickets?

Your tickets are automatically sent to the email address on your payment account as soon as they are bought. They will be sent via our ticketing partner Zarucchi and sometimes end up in your junk folder so please do check there.

If you’ve lost your tickets, have changed emails, or deleted them, don’t worry we can retrieve them — however, this can take a bit of time as we get closer to the festival.

Can I get a refund on my ticket?

Tickets are non-refundable but we do understand plans can change. A ticket can be transferred to another name or rolled over to the following year with an admin charge - please use our ‘Ticket Rollover / Name Transfer Fee’ option. This can be done up to two weeks in advance, email info@also-festival.com to confirm.

Can I get a refund for a workshop?

Apologies, we are unable to offer refunds for workshops but you're more than welcome to put your details on The Tower of ALSO and this can act as an informal place to swap tickets.

And now for the not very frequently asked questions…..

What can I bring?

If you are coming by car / camper we really encourage you to bring everything you need and to make this sculpted parkland festival your own for the weekend and why not dig deep — think creatively for whatever you might want or need for the weekend — you are kinda setting up home for the weekend in an extraordinarily beautiful place. PLUS we are so unusual as a site that there is not a huge amount of walking (unless you want to) and so it is possible to be ambitious in how comfortable you can make it — you can bring loads and get it from the car as you need it — as the weather does its thing…..We have seen in the field in no particular order….extravagant picnic blankets, extra duvets, fold up chairs, tables, lights to dress yourself in, wetsuits, umbrellas, wine chillers, opera singers, candelabra with electric candles, yoga mats, waterproofs, hat, gloves, walking boots, extra socks, jumpers, wellies, inflatables, gazebos, reusable coffee cups and water bottles, paddleboards, something warm, glamorous and sparkly to wear for Saturday night.

If you’re coming by train, concentrate on what you’re going to wear to be in weather. We really recommend 80s ski wear chic — ticks all the boxes. It’s a very friendly crowd — someone will share their blanket, gazebos, see above.

If you’re coming by bike — we love you and we plan to do much more for bikers in the next few years.

Please don’t bring loads of single-use plastic (last year we had to hire a jumbo skip just for the hummus pots), pets (the ghost of ALSO eats them at night) or much booze (we’ve built bars just for you).

What shall I wear?

We recommend dressing for the weather which we know is hard. Comfortable clothing for the wellness sessions (and you will need your own mat or towel for these), Those who have read the T&Cs in detail will know that you can actually be asked to leave ALSO for wearing walking trousers that zip off at the knees so think on. Just kidding! Kinda! So clothes are always a big theme for ALSO and even bigger for 2025 because rethinking clothes is so good for the planet. However, if you find clothes hard — think second-hand 80s ski wear is perfect for all weathers. We are asking people to wear on Saturday night (or anytime through the weekend) clothes they have in their wardrobe that make them feel great but that they never get to wear.

Now in our 12th year, we have rapidly become one of the UK's leading ideas festivals, known throughout the land as the place to go for a weekend that offers a heady mix of ideas, experiences and adventures. ALSO is the award-winning Warwickshire festival set in a stunning Capability Brown landscape for festival-goers to explore, swim and relax and let ideas run wild. The next ALSO runs from July 11th - July 13th 2025.

The history

In 2008 Helen, Juliet and Diccon set up Salon London with the concept of getting expert speakers from right across the spectrum in front of an audience who wouldn't normally be seen at a literary event. ALSO followed in 2014, putting our audience back in their natural habitat (a field, a bar, a late night disco bunker), still channelling ideas and speakers one step ahead of the curve, but adding music, comedy and food into the mix.

Since then, we've been hailed by Condé Nast Traveller as one of the best 100 festivals in the world, we've graced the 'top festival' lists every year* from Financial Times to Guardian, Sunday Times to Stylist, Time Out to Telegraph, bringing us to now, the 12th ALSO in 2025.

What to expect?

Eccentric, playful, thought-provoking programming designed to get ideas into your head, with wild dancing and random fun by night. Our long-table experiences are such a highlight of the festival and with five dinners across the weekend, you can punctuate your weekend with a dining event or two. From a Parisian cabaret dinner on Friday night, a woodland long table lunch on ALSO Saturday deep in the ALSO wild site, Saturday night's immersive Love and Horror long table banquet deserves to be part of your weekend at ALSO festival it's a great chance to come into our glorious dining tent designed for long table dining to celebrate our theme. ALSO Future Music is a new early-career development programme, supported by Arts Council England, countering the shrinking opportunities available in the sector and targets a diverse range of early-career artists looking to build experience. It offers development workshops with industry professionals, marketing and promotion, help adapting performance for outdoor events and performing to a festival audience.

The programme will work with 12 early-career artists and 6 technicians over 6-months, with key activity taking place in-festival at ALSO 2025 over the 11-13th July 2025 weekend.

The new ALSO Future Music programme will support a diverse range of 12 early-career artists and offer development opportunities consisting of:
- Development workshops with industry professionals
- Marketing and promotion
- Help adapting performance for outdoor events
- In-festival networking event
- A paid gig at ALSO 2025!
- Travel and accommodation to the event
The programme will help grassroots artists build confidence and stagecraft in a professional festival setting, connection with audience, ability to work with technicians in a live setting, as well as developing Industry connections, digital presence and navigation of the application process for live events.

The Application Process

Applications are now open and close Friday 28th March 2025 at 23:59.
- We welcome applications from grassroots and early-career bands, duos and solo artists who are over the age of 18.
- Applicants must be available for the full ALSO Festival weekend in Warwickshire over the 11 - 13th July 2025 weekend.

ALSO Women In Sound

ALSO's 'Women In Sound' initiative, supported by Arts Council England, counters the underrepresentation of women working in sound and will nurture early-career technicians with a skills-based workshop run by an industry professional and paid work at the festival.

The ‘Women In Sound’ initiative will nurture 6 early-career technicians and include:
- A practical, skills-based, weekend workshop run by an industry professional
- Experience of the festival environment and a paid shift working with professional artists, supported by an in-festival mentor
- Lunch and travel costs
- Accommodation for those travelling from outside the area
The Application Process

- Applicants to the programme must be available for the weekend 10/11th May 2025 and for the full ALSO Festival weekend in Warwickshire over the 11 - 13th July 2025 weekend.
- ALSO welcomes applicants with a basic understanding of sound tech.
