#fascinatainment: Clever comedy, cabaret and theatre
An undoubted institution in the world of comedy, Robin Ince (Sony Radio Award Winner, Time Out Award Winner - Outstanding Contribution to Comedy) is working on a brand new comedy concept to present at ALSO20. We love the way Robin’s work effortlessly spans science and ideas and comedy capturing the subject we want to consider in new and fascianating ways. Do not miss this opportunity to be part of something new and experimental designed for the space from the master of the comedy scene.
ALSO is a place to go a bit deeper into the process of creating comedy and for ALSO20 we are offering the chance to grapple with improv, and we couldn’t be in better hands that those of the internationally acclaimed improv expert Richard Vranch (BBC R4’s Just a Minute, Whose Line Is It Anyway? Comedy Store Players in London’s West End and Paul Merton’s Impro Chums). He’ll be at ALSO20 to show you how to play the moment and conjure up laughter from thin air in this accessible workshop.
As part of our Clever Comedy strand we will be building on our incredible introduction to clowning at ALSO19. For ALSO20 we are moving the clowning up a notch for anyone who wants to go a bit deeper in to their inner clown. We will be inviting festival-goers to an intermediate clowning workshop one that allows them to prepare a piece of idiocy, which will be honed and then performed. No idea is too stupid, no concept too wild. Workshop will be run by Gaulier Trained Clowns!

From the mundanity of cramping and falling asleep, to the saucy histories of famous muses, she’ll explore what it means to see and be seen while all are encouraged to try life drawing for themselves through a series of sketching games – we’ll bring the paper and crayons provided – no drawing talent needed.
