A Food Festival In A Festival
Let’s talk about you and your appetite when taking to the field for a fabulous festival. What does yours want? To wander the wilds of our site with one of our perfect boxed-up picnics to choose the perfect lake view spot. Maybe it wants to book on our Friday Fiesta dining event or join Valeen’s Heart and Soul take-over of Sunday lunch in our Victorian-style dining tent. Maybe it wants a sundowner or two (lo or no no problem) lakeside with mates, or maybe it enjoys taking a tour of the world via its food, booking on one of our featured cookbook tasting sessions. Maybe it’s enjoying the thrill and surprise of eating in the wilds of the country on our long table dining dinners either under canvas, or maybe it’s happier at a smaller more intimate private chef-style lunch often in their own tree-flanked glade. Maybe your appetite will be marching between workshops and masterclasses and talks and fresh from Flamenco it grabs a freshly baked pastry sourced that morning from a local bakery and a gut health-friendly kombucha to go from our Deli of Dreams. Maybe the fam wants pizza or healthy vegan food, or food from the farmers who look after the animals themselves, or maybe it wants to support local food businesses like our Buffalo Ice-Cream, or to DIY with Danny the Chef’s BBQ Box.
Maybe it’s sober curious or will be on Friday and possibly Sunday and will take a lo or no hand-crafted cocktail into the creative forest, or maybe it wants a craft of the cocktail masterclass. Maybe it wants to explore our theme of ‘Blue Mind’ by booking on our sustainable seafood lunch or our British Oyster Tasting and Talk.
Food has always been a serious consideration at ALSO, our very first festival was completely vegan – since the beginning, we have sought out to celebrate diversity in all of our food offerings from molecular gastronomy to Tibetan history, food concessions to starry restaurateurs. We are always proud to present food fashion and fun and all our decisions on the food at ALSO are based on what gives the maximum taste flavour and fun and is planet positive. Animal welfare, global eating plans, sustainable farming, gut health and the huge benefits of eating together is what we’re all about and because we have always cared so much, we want to celebrate with our food festival within our festival for ALSO23.
Because we work hard to find diverse food founders and up-and-coming chefs and work hard to ensure their businesses can flourish in festival, we offer unique and varied food experiences and tastings, and workshops and immersive happenings which means you can support them too and get to know their food and their stories and their work and be part of the development of the incredible food scene we are all part of, and need to celebrate, be proud of and support in equal measure.
So plan to book on one or two of our truly wonderous food experiences when our food festival within a festival opens for booking in May. Want a private chef for a big birthday? You’ve got it. Want to know how to cook brilliantly from your van? We have the masterclass for you. Want a high-class restaurant dinner in a canvas tent? Let us show you to your seat.
