Robin Cooper is an invention of the comedy writer Robert Popper - who invented him as a way of plaguing various organisations with his insane ideas and inventions. No one from the British Halibut Association to the United Kingdom Spoon Collectors Club to British Hamster Association were exempt from his ridiculous correspondence, and all had in common that they were too British to tell him to go away. He has allowed us to devise a small play with the theatre collective Briefcase based on his work for The Also Festival to illustrate our Isle of Noises theme. On Saturday night, Also Festival is going all out to celebrate the seasons by taking part in Pina Bausch’s Nelken Line. Our daytime workshop led by local choreographer Elysia Qui will give you chance to learn the elemental parts of Pina Bausch’s iconic promenade Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter from her 1982 masterpiece, NELKEN - before we perform it at night walking along the banks of Compton Pools.

Tales from the yoga mat is a fun fitness and storytelling experience for children from 0-7years. Led by their yoga teacher and chief storyteller, the children become voyagers of literature and are transported through time and space to great adventures using their bodies to act out each tale.

Based in Pembrokeshire, Darren has established the UK’s first dedicated Clinical Somatic Education Centre and regularly delivers workshops, trainings and retreats throughout the UK. This live performance workshop combines original songs with audience participation. Francisco, accompanied by Philip Garret, will take us on a musical journey of melodies and rhythms from Latin America, Africa and the world, turning the audience into an impromptu orchestra and becoming part of the show. Xylaroo are a sister duo act with a refreshing take on folk music. Having travelled the world in their youth, starting in Papua New Guinea and ending in London via Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Azerbaijan, Switzerland and Kent, it is fair to say they have seen a lot. These experiences are vocalised in beautiful harmonies that drapse over familiarly folk-y vibes but in a way we haven’t heard before.
Come along and learn some high-energy Bhangra and Hip Hop moves as we walk you through a complete dance routine from start to finish. We are Vikram and Mrinal Seth, two brothers who were born and raised in London, and grew up listening to Bhangra and Hip Hop music in the 90s. We created Bounce Bhangra as a way to celebrate the music, dance and culture that we love so much.
