Award-winning author of Mr. Fox & What is Not Yours is Not Yours, Helen Oyeyemi, wrote her first novel, The Icarus Girl, while still at school studying for her A levels at Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School. While studying social and political sciences at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, two of her plays, Juniper’s Whitening and Victimese, were performed by fellow students to critical acclaim and subsequently published by Methuen. Helen will be at ALSO to read you a siesta short story. Come in, settle down and listen to her enchanting short stories...
This is Steve Vertigo's new one-man stand up show that debuted at Leicester Comedy Festival this year, and is currently touring. It's a surreal story-led show, that veers from family to serial killers and a lot of things in between. Get there early for this on Friday night.

Combrook resident runner John Wade, stalwart of the Stratford on Avon Park Run will be leading anyone who wants to join in a gentle 4k run around the beautiful Warwickshire countryside beginning and ending right slap bang in the Also Festival site. If you want to join him (or wave him off) please meet at the Maypole at 8am on the Sunday.
In this incredible wine tasting session leading misanthropic Frenchman Marcel Lucont suggests which wines should accompany the more unusual philosophical situations you might find yourself in. Drawing on his own experience and philosophy of life he'll explain what to take to a party held by people you despise, what to serve at a wedding of people of whom you don’t approve, what to drink to make you seem more successful at life even though you are British. This is a wine tasting session unlike any other - Also Festival style. Tickets include philosophy and wines.

We of course had to find a sport that represented the beautiful and historical site we find ourselves in for the weekend of the festival - and what better represents the site's history than croquet? Yet we felt such an illustrious sport needed a little bit of edge to make it work for the festival and so we are proud to present a world exclusive, the first ever glow in the dark croquet tournament. Muna will be putting together the ultimate bookshop for an ideas festival bringing all the best books for you to browse. She magically transports Book and Kitchen to the country to create in our humble opinion the world's most beautiful book shop. Think cake and coffee, reclining seats looking out on the lake, and even a Billie Holliday soundtrack on vinyl. Muna Khogali worked in publishing for many years before founding Book and Kitchen, a beautiful Notting Hill bookshop with a small cafe, art gallery and events space, hosting literary evenings, supper clubs, music nights and more.

Listen out for the bell to tell you the reader of mischief and mayhem is on her way through the site to entertain you and gather together in the Orangerie to get ready for Aunty Zoe. It's up to you to decipher the lyrics being acted out in front of your very eyes, and the song it comes from. For 2017, we're creating an authentic venue to celebrate the joys of rum by building Also Festival its very own Rum Shack on the banks of the beautiful lake. Our thinking was inspired by Justin and Gill, two brilliant members of the ALSO team (and they're all brilliant) who spent many years workng in Honduras and developing a healthy regard for rum - in that order. Head over to the beautiful lake side setting for a slice of island life.
For the brave, the foolhardy, the beautiful and the free, and the one's who can't remember where the exit is, the ALSO Closing Party is a chance to look back and allow the weekend to soak in accompanied by great music from surviving DJ's. Take in the stunning view, drink in hand, whilst coming to terms with the amount of information, thoiught, ideas and downright fun you've been subjected to. Sometimes the only thing for it is to sit and think. And drink.
